Edina Summer Computer Camp: Writing Magic

Young Authors (grades 2-5)

June 18-21, 9:00-12:00, ECC 317

This camp targets young, developing writers, who love writing but have limited experience with computers or who struggle with typing.  Campers will use the writing process to develop unique characters and conflicts both on paper and on the computer.  An introduction and practice of basic computer skills will be part of each day including an online writing community where students may publish their work for our private group.  The week will end with a celebration and read-aloud of campers’ favorite pieces.

The Art of Creative Writing (grades 4-8)

June 18-21, 1:00-4:00, ECC 317

Campers will use the writing process to explore multiple genres, write for different audiences and purposes, all while gaining confidence and skills in their writing.  We will also explore digital opportunities for young authors, including online writing prompts, skill development, blogging, and self-publishing. An end of the week celebration will include an opportunity for campers to share a favorite piece from the week.

Campers must have basic experience with computers (how to turn on a computer, navigate the web, and developing typing skills).
